The movie “Groundhog Day” was a humorous metaphor on living life differently if you had the chance. Would I indulge myself, or would I eventually end up becoming more interested and caring about others? Early on during the pandemic of 2020, the meme was groundhog day, because it seemed we were living the same thing over and over again.
Everyone is hoping 2021 will be different. And yet…it probably won’t be, at least for several months. And some things may never return to what we called “normal”. While I believe optimism beats pessimism every day, a strong dose of realism helps to manage expectations during times of immense change and reorientation.
So, to handle the high probability that the first half of 2021 has a lot of the same dynamics as this past year, how will you and I live? What will we do differently, and what will we double down on that we did well in managing a world of high stress and volatility (i.e. the dumpster fire we call 2020)?
If you wish, tell me and anyone else reading what you’ll do more of, or less of, in light of what you’ve learned, because hindsight is finally, truly, and really 20/20, and we’ve all got a chance for a do-over in 2021. Happy New Year Everyone.
